I am super excited to share my review with you today on publication day for His Fatal Legacy by Heather Atkinson

Edinburgh 1896

Amy Alardyce’s once-perfect life is in tatters. Her eldest son, Robert, has come of age, become the master of his own home, and married his childhood love Jane. But with maturity has come a terrible legacy, and the dark desires Robert inherited from his evil father Matthew, are fighting to get loose.

Whilst Jane is working hard to get her and Robert accepted into fashionable society, poor women are being hunted on the streets of Edinburgh, and Amy fears her son is to blame. And once the infamous Inspector Murphy takes up the case, Amy has to face a stark choice – denounce her son as a monster or risk her own safety to protect him from the consequences of his lethal actions.

My Thoughts

His Fatal Legacy is the third book in the The Alardyce quadrilogy. The author sets the scene and transports us back to 1896 in Edinburgh. Where we follow a story about Amy Alardyce’s eldest son Robert who married his childhood sweetheart Jane. Robert inherited his evil side from his father Matthew. Women are being hunted and Amy fears her son is to blame.

This is a dark atmospheric family drama which grabbed me from the start and kept me there until the very end. I am a massive fan of grit lit and this book is just that just set in past making it an historical thriller. I have to be honest I have never been a fan of this genre. Just because I didn’t think it was my cup of tea but this trilogy has changed all that for me. I love how we learn how they lived back then and how things have changed but not too much because there were crimes still made back then like in this story The author has certainly done her research I felt right there in the story.

Although this can be read has a standalone I recommend you read them in to order. This is a quadrilogy to good miss….it is epic! I can’t wait to find out what happens next! Did I mention it would make an excellent TV series too! I loved everything about it and can’t recommend it enough.

Massive thank you to Rachel and Boldwood a copy and for inviting me to take part on this tour.
