I am super excited to share my review with you today for The Killing Pit by Wes Markin
A broken ex-detective. A corrupt chief of police. A merciless drug lord.
And a missing child.
Running from a world which wants him dead, ex-detective Sergeant Jake Pettman journeys to the isolated town of Blue Falls, Maine, home of his infamous murderous ancestors.
But Jake struggles to hide from who he is, and when a child disappears, he finds himself drawn into an investigation that shares no parallels to anything he has ever seen before.
Held back by a chief of police plagued and tormented by his own secrets, Jake fights for the truth.
All the way to the door of Jotham MacLeoid.
An insidious megalomaniac who feeds his victims to a Killing Pit.
And the terrifying secrets that lie within.
I am a little late to the party. But this book is exactly what the title says it is! The Killing Pit the first book in a brand new series by Wes Markin, author of DCI Yorke. A series I well and truly love.
So to start with I felt rather nervous about reading this. Thinking will it be has good has the last series. Who was I kidding, of course it’s has good. Markin pulls a charcater out of the yorke series and transports him to Blue Falls, Maine in America.
Like all of the authors previous books we are taken on a dark and twisty journey has we follow Jake who is drawn into an investigation when a child disappears.
With an OMG start I was pulled stay into a faced paced, terrifying story This book will certainly have you on the edge of your seat. Markin has one hell of an imagination like all of his books there is an element of horror. So if that’s not your thing then I wouldn’t recommend this to you.
The Killing Pit is a brilliant start to a new series and I cant wait to read the next installment.
