I am super excited to be kicking off Silent Winter by Maggie James with a 5 star review

No sound. No light. No hope.
On an icy November night, Drew Blackmore is beaten unconscious, then abducted. He awakes to find himself in total darkness, naked and chained to the floor. Fed just enough to keep him alive, Drew is unable to identify his captor, or the reason for his incarceration. As reality fades, hallucinations take over. Can Drew escape his prison before madness claims him?
Meanwhile Drew’s wife, Holly, despairing of ever seeing him again, turns to his brother for comfort. As the worst winter in decades sweeps the UK, she learns of Drew’s tragic past. Could his disappearance be connected with that of a prostitute years before?
A story of how the mind responds to solitary confinement, Silent Winter examines one man’s desperate attempt to survive the unthinkable.
My Thoughts
Hanging my head in shame I have to admit that I have never read a book by Maggie James. Even though I have a few on my pile waiting to be read. So I jumped at the chance to read Silent Winter.
What a cracking read this book is, From the every first page I was hooked with an OMG opening we follow a story that alternates between the past and is told in three parts. Each chapter leaves you wanting more has we follow the different time time lines which are woven together towards the end when the pieces of the puzzle all become one.
This book certainly kept me on my toes and guessing until the end. Just when I had it all worked out the author throws in another twist. Silent Winter will have you on the edge of your seat with some scenes that will make you cringe and feel uncomfortable and I couldn’t help but empathise with Drew.
Did I mention the ending?! OMFG…..BRILLIANT! I didn’t expect that.
This is a must read for psychological thriller fans which I highly recommend giving it all the stars. I will definitely be reading more books by the author. I flipping loved it.
