One Last Pray For The Rays by Wes Markin #Review @MarkinWes

School should be the safest place in the world. Not this winter.

DCI Michael Yorke faces his most harrowing case yet.

When 12-year-old Paul disappears from school, Yorke’s only clue is a pool of animal blood. Fearing the worst, he turns toward the most obvious suspect, recently released local murderer, Thomas Ray.

But as the snow in Salisbury worsens, Ray’s mutilated body is discovered, and Yorke is left with no choice but to journey into the sinister heart of a demented family that has plagued the community for generations. Can he save the boy? Or will the evil he discovers change him forever?

One Last Prayer for the Rays, introducing DCI Michael Yorke.

My Thoughts

Looks like there is a new sicko author in town who brings us One Last Prayer For The Rays. This is the first book in the DCI Michael Yorke which is a dark and gritty read! Those of you that read my reviews will know I love dark thrillers, in fact the darker the better for me and I have to say that the author ticked all those boxes for me with this pulse racing read!

In this story we are introduced to DCI Michael Yorke a strong lead character and follow a story about a 12 year old school boy who disappears from school. The case is not what it seems when Yorke finds himself on the hunt for the boy, after his most obvious suspect is found mutilated…..That’s just for starters!

OMG what a tense story with scenes that will make you squirm……I have to say that I am very impressed and not forgetting the fact that this is the authors debut novel. I cannot wait to move on to the second book in this series.

This story is full of horror woven into a police procedure with elements of the story reminding me of the film Wrong Turn…..LOVE IT!

Wes Markin is certainly an author to look out for. Not only is this book gripping it is full of twists and turns keeping the reader on the edge of their seat and guessing until the end. Which I highly recommend.
