I am delighted to share my review with you today on Blog Tour
Some secrets are best kept hidden… and some are just too magical not to share.
Teenagers, who unexpectedly acquire a vast collection of magical, mystical powers and abilities, find an ancient map. This map leads them on a quest for buried treasure to a mysterious island filled with hidden secrets, booby traps and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. What could possibly go wrong? A lot!
I jumped at the chance to read this after hearing that it was like The Goonies. One of my all time favourite 80’s movies, I am happy to confirm that it is but set in the this decade with the characters using cell phones and the mention of eBay etc. I use the word cell phone because this story is American and is clearly shown in the dialogue used throughout the story.
This is a YA novel which can be enjoyed by adults….I’m not exactly a teenager and I really enjoyed this book. In this story we meet a group of teenagers who find an ancient map and set off on an adventure to find the buried treasure and of course a ruthless villain. So there is definitely The Goonies feel to this story. But the authors have made this a much more magical, weaving a fantasy element into it.
The Mystery Tribe is a story full of adventure, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough willing the characters along. What a delightful bunch of characters they are too. Each one of them brings something different to the story.
This is a very entertaining read which I recommend to readers all of ages. Who are looking for something that little bit different.
I would like to thank Sarah Hardy for a copy and the blog tour invite.
